Sri Lanka’s victory was made easy by captain Chamari Atpattu’s brilliant batting. Chamari scored 63 runs off 48 balls. Sri Lanka almost sealed victory when she hit a six and nine boundaries in the 17th over when she was clean bowled by Sadia Iqbal. With Chamari out, Pakistan came back strongly. With this, the match was exciting in the last overs but the Lankan women won with one ball to spare.
Sadia Iqbal sent back Vishmi Gunaratne on the third ball of the innings, shocking Sri Lanka who started batting in reply, but Chamari, another opener, came out with a good batting. Wicket keeper Anushka Sanjeevi remained unbeaten on 24 runs. Kavisha Dilhari (17), Harshida Samarawickrama (12) and Sugandhika Kumari (10) are the other batsmen who scored more runs for Lanka.
Sadia Iqbal gave a good performance conceding only 16 runs in four overs but none of the other bowlers could shine and Pakistan lost the match.
Openers Gul Feroza and Muneeba Ali gave a good start for Pakistan who lost the toss and started batting. The alliance was broken after scoring 61 runs. Muniba Ali became the top scorer with 37 runs. Other top scorers are Gul Feroza (25), Nita Dar (23), Fatima Sana (23*) and Ali Riaz (16).
Prabodhani and Kavisha Dilhari equally shared the four wickets Pakistan lost. The final is on Sunday at 7 pm.
