Rumours doing the rounds online suggest that the megastar could take on the role of a multiverse variant of Tony Starkopposite Robert Downey Jr., who has confirmed his return as Doctor Doom in the upcoming ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’.

While neither Marvel Studios nor Cruise has officially confirmed the casting, fan theories have been swirling that the actor could likely play a variant of the character who met his end in ‘Avengers: Endgame’. If there is any truth to the rumours, then it would come as a welcomed update to fans, considering that Cruise was originally considered for the role of Tony Stark before Robert Downey Jr. was cast.
