While the third-gen Honda Amaze went on sale recently, the company has confirmed that two variants of the sedan’s second-gen model will continue to be sold alongside its latest iteration – just like how Maruti Suzuki sells two generations of the Dzire.
- Honda will keep selling S and VX variants of second-gen Amaze
- These variants will be sold with petrol-MT setup only
- With RTO approval, buyers can convert it to petrol-CNG at the dealer level
Second-gen Amaze aimed at private and fleet buyers
Honda will continue to sell the second-gen Amaze in the S and VX variants, say dealers; the prices start at Rs 7.71 lakh for the Amaze S and Rs 9.13 lakh for the Amaze VX (ex-showroom, India).
On the other hand, the prices of the recently launched third-gen Amaze start at Rs 8 lakh for the entry-level V version and go up to Rs 10.9 lakh for the top-spec ZX variant, which comes with features such as Honda Sensing ADAS and 15-inch alloy wheels.
Unlike Maruti, which sells the previous-gen Dzire as the Tour S targeted at fleet buyers, Honda will aim the second-gen Amaze at private and fleet customers, offering more options depending on price point. The customers will also get the option of converting the second-gen Amaze’s setup to petrol-CNG at the dealer level via an RTO-approved centre.
Honda Amaze engine, gearbox details
While both generations of the Amaze have the same 1.2-litre 90hp petrol engine, only the third-gen comes with the choice of a five-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. Sources tell us that the automatic gearbox option will not be available in the previous generation of the car.
