“Red Alerts are often changed to Orange Alerts. Isn’t technology improving? Why can’t we accurately predict weather events?” Reporters questioned director Balachandran.
He replied, “Meteorology is not a fully understood science. It is impossible to predict a weather event 100% of the time in today’s world.
Weather phenomena can occur for a variety of reasons. Everything is interdependent. So sometimes the predictions are wrong.
It is a mistake to think that advanced technology can predict 100%. “It is difficult to predict a weather event caused by a variety of factors with data from one instrument,” he explained.
