Mahira Khanwho tied the knot with businessman Salim Karim in a dreamy destination wedding in Pakistan last October, recently opened up about her special day during an interview with BBC Asian Network. The actor, known for her grace and talent, became emotional as she reflected on the significance of the moment and her pride in her son, Azlan.
In the interview, Mahira shared her feelings about walking down the aisle with Azlan, her son from her previous marriage. “It feels like every single thing that went wrong… Let me put it in a better way… for every time that I was good in some way, I was kind, or looked after people around me. It was as if God put it all together and blessed me and said, ‘Here, this is for the good that you have done.’ It felt like that moment. I was constantly saying Alhamdulillah,” she said.
Describing the emotional connection with her son, Mahira added, “This was a very big moment. I was very proud of my child… I wanted him to walk me down the aisle, so he did!”

The wedding took place at the Pearl Continental Hotel in Bhurban, where Mahira shared an intimate ceremony with close friends and family. In a now-deleted Instagram post, she referred to her husband as “My Shehzada, Salim (my prince)” and shared a touching clip of her entry alongside Azlan. Both mother and son twinned in elegant outfits, radiating love and joy throughout the ceremony.
Mahira was previously married to Ali Askariwith whom she tied the knot in 2007. The couple parted ways in 2015 but continue to co-parent their son, Azlan, who was born in 2009.
The celebrated actor, who made her Bollywood debut in 2017 alongside Shah Rukh Khan in Raees, continues to inspire fans with her humility and dedication to her family.
