HYDERABAD: Telangana BJP president and Union minister G. Kishan Reddy said that the Congress had earned a dubious distinction by not winning a single seat in three successive Lok Sabha (2014, 2019 and 2024) and Assembly (2015, 2020 and 2025) elections in Delhi. He said that Saturday’s Delhi Assembly election results have evidenced that voters would reject allegedly corrupt and inept leaders like Arvind Kejriwal, Rahul Gandhi and K. Chandrashekar Rao.
Talking to reporters here on Saturday, Reddy asked that when even Congress activists had lost confidence in Rahul Gandhi, how could the people repose trust in him.
Stating that the Kejriwal government had failed on all fronts, he said that the voters had rejected Kejriwal’s cheap comments that the BJP-led Haryana government was mixing poison in Yamuna waters. It was similar to the manner the voters had rejected Congress in Lok Sabha elections for comments that the Constitution would be changed if BJP came to power.
Union minister of state Bandi Sanjay Kumar, posted on `X’ that Kejriwal was a “shameless politician” who pulled every dirty trick in the book the voters had dealt a humiliating defeat to both the AAP and Congress.
He said “Kejriwal had thought that votes could be bought with freebies, but the people upheld democracy better than the so-called folks holding the Constitution in hand and spewing false claims. Delhi outcome is a strong lesson for AAP’s Telangana partner – no amount of scams, jail dramas, or fake victimhood will fool the people into electing them to power again. #TwitterTillu & Co take a note – going to jail after doing scam will not make one CM (sic).”
BJP leaders from Nizamabad district, led by MP Dharmapuri Arvind, campaigned in the RK Puram and Jangpura segments where the party won. Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Arvind said, “The party high command entrusted us with this task and we delivered.
BJP Assembly floor leader Aleti Maheshwar Reddy said that voters in Telangana would reject the “corrupt and inefficient” Congress government and pave the way for ‘Rama Rajyam’.
BJP vice-president D.K. Aruna, Mahbubnagar MP, said that the Delhi results would make a big impact on Telangana politics. Like in Haryana, Maharashtra and now Delhi, the Congress would face a similar dubbing in Telangana, she said.
