Hyderabad: Kankanala Ramesh, who is an Assistant Engineer (AE) of Panchayat Raj department in Warangal district along with his private assistant (PA) S. Guguloth Saraiah, was caught red-handed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) at Hanumakonda in connection with a bribe case on Monday.
Following instructions from Ramesh, Saraiah allegedly demanded and accepted a bribe Rs.10,000 from a complainant for doing an official favour to process the building permission application of the complainant’s wife to obtain approval from Kakatiya Urban Development Plan (KUDA).
The application was submitted for the construction of a house at Kuntapally village of Sangem mandal. The chemical test conducted on both hand fingers of Saraiah and the contact portion of his two-wheeler vehicle’s petrol tank cover yielded positive results.
The ACB officials recovered the bribe amount of Rs.10.000 from Saraiah and added that the details of the complainant were withheld for security reasons. They produced Ramesh and Saraiah before the special court for ACB cases in Warangal district after which the court remanded them to judicial custody.
