Film maker Anubhav sinha has revealed that he has not spoken to Ajay Devgn for the past 18 years, despite having no known conflict with the actor. In a recent interview, Sinha shared that he has tried reaching out to Devgn multiple times over the years, but never received a response.
“We have never fought. He just doesn’t speak to me, and I have no idea why. Since the making of Cash, we haven’t even met for me to tell you he ignored me or something. Maybe it’s just me overthinking. But it’s been 18 years since we have spoken,” Sinha said in an interview with Lallantop.
The filmmaker dismissed speculation that there was a disagreement over a song in Cash, clarifying, “There was no creative conflict between us. If there were disagreements, they were between the producer and financier, not me.”
Despite the silent treatment, Sinha still holds Ajay Devgn in high regard. “Ajay was one of my favorite actors. He is like ‘yaaro ka yaar’—a loyal friend. He is always the first to be there when someone needs him,” he said.
Sinha also speculated that his political commentary over the years might have played a role in the distance between them. “I did comment on people’s political views, and maybe I said something about him too. But I’ve said things to many people, and I still maintain good relations with them all. I admire Ajay and respect him as both an actor and an individual,” he added.
The filmmaker also opened up about Manoj bajpayeewho now refuses to collaborate with him on films. Sinha recalled writing a role for Manoj in his TV series Shikast, despite him not being in the original script. However, despite their past friendship, Bajpayee now only agrees to work with him in music videos but not full-length films.
