VIJAYAWADA: The state government has formed a cabinet sub-compiling minists Payyavula Keshav, Kollu Ravindra, Satyakumar Yadav, Nadendla Manohar and P Narayana
Chief Secretary K Vijayanand said a meeting was held at the state secretariat on Wednesday to review arrangements for the May 2 visit. The cabinet panel would meet with officials at the secretariat on Monday to further discuss the arrangements.
The venue for the PM’s programme will be the area behind the secretariat, where the P-4 programme was recently launched.
In view of the summer heat, Vijayanand asked officials to ensure special care of the people attending the event. The dignitaries and common people have to reach the meeting place via various villages. Since all the approach roads are through the villages, special steps would be taken to avoid traffic problems.
Health commissioner Veerapandian has been appointed as the nodal officer to monitor the entire tour arrangements with the officials from time to time. All the officials should coordinate with him, the CS said.
Principal secretary Mukesh Meena advised officials to coordinate with the police department as regards the details of the VIPs and other dignitaries participating in the visit. The GAD would issue guidelines regarding the arrangements to be made by the officials.
Veerapandian said arrangements would be made for the participation of about 5 lakh people in the event and along the approach roads. Some 50,000 people can sit at the main venue, a lakh people would stand along the roads to welcome the PM, and the rest in nearby places.
