NAHL Completes Inaugural Futures Draft, Welcomes Next Wave of Talent | North American Hockey League

The North American Hockey League (NAHL) completed its inaugural Futures Draft on Tuesday, June 10, introducing the next wave of talented young players to the NAHL’s proven development model.

Each of the league’s 34 teams selected two players born in 2009, marking an important first step in identifying and developing future NCAA hockey talent. The draft was conducted in two rounds, with teams selecting in reverse order of the 2024-25 regular season standings.

Selections from the 2025 NAHL Futures Draft are listed at the bottom of this release:

Each drafted player will be added to their team’s USA Hockey Affiliate Player List for the 2025-26 season. This status allows players to compete in up to 10 NAHL games without being added to the active roster, giving them a valuable opportunity to experience the NAHL while continuing to play at the midget, high school, or prep school level.

Drafted players will remain under the exclusive rights of their drafting NAHL team through March 10, 2026. After that date, players not rostered or tendered by their drafting NAHL team will become free agents eligible to sign with any NAHL team.

The Futures Draft is the latest initiative in the NAHL’s continued commitment to player development, advancement, and exposure. With hundreds of NCAA commitments each season, the league remains a leader in advancing players to college hockey.
