A new character has officially entered the “Bosch” universe.
The comings and goings of disgraced LAPD detective Renée Ballard, the head of the new and underfunded cold case division, will be the focus of “Ballard,” a new crime drama series coming to Prime Video on July 9.
The show, named after the titular character, is a spinoff off “Bosch,” another police procedural inspired by Michael Connelly’s bestselling novels.
Titus Welliver, who played dogged LAPD detective Harry Bosch for 10 seasons on “Bosch” and “Bosch: Legacy,” returns to offer his guidance and expertise as Ballard (Maggie Q) “tackles the city’s most challenging long-forgotten crimes with empathy and relentless determination.”
“As she peels back layers of crimes spanning decades, including a serial killer’s string of murders and a murdered John Doe, she soon uncovers a dangerous conspiracy within the LAPD,” according to a show description provided by Prime Video. “With the help of her volunteer team and retired detective Harry Bosch, Detective Ballard navigates personal trauma, professional challenges, and life-threatening dangers to expose the truth.”
