WARANGAL: Legal action will be taken and cases will be registered against private hospitals that violate regulations, warned circle inspector Machha Shiva Kumar during a meeting held on Monday with Public Relations Officers (PROs) and managers of private hospitals under the Hanamkonda Police Station limits.
Addressing the gathering, the CI stated that cases will be filed upon receiving complaints from the public regarding practices such as conducting unnecessary scans and blood tests, billing for medicines or services not provided, misrepresenting ordinary rooms as ICUs, charging excessive fees, allowing trainee doctors to treat patients in place of qualified doctors, and failing to provide complete information to patients and their families.
He also pointed out that hospital vehicles and ambulances are often parked on roads, causing inconvenience to commuters. Hospitals must ensure their vehicles do not obstruct traffic. They are also required to inform the police immediately in case of disputes with patients and must ensure that all CCTV cameras, including those facing the road, are fully functional.
CI Shiva Kumar appealed to patients and their families to always collect bills and prescriptions from hospitals where they receive treatment. If they believe they have been mistreated, they are encouraged to file a complaint in writing or via email against the hospital management.
