After making its India debut in Mumbai last month, Elon Musk’s electric vehicle company, Tesla, opened a second showroom, in Delhi, on Monday. The showroom is located in the Worldmark 3 building in Aerocity, one of the city’s prime commercial hubs, near the Indira Gandhi International Airport.
Here’s all you need to know:
- The showroom spans 8,200 sq ft and will serve the entire National Capital Region.
- Visitors can test Tesla cars and charging infrastructure at the showroom.
- It is also a booking point for Tesla’s Model Y, the brand’s offering for India.
Model pricing and features
- Customers can book the car through the company’s official website; deliveries are expected in a few months. Both Mumbai and Delhi showrooms serve customers across India.
- Tesla’s India portfolio currently includes the Model Y electric SUV in two configurations. The standard Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) version is priced at ₹59.89 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Long Range RWD variant is available at ₹67.89 lakh (ex-showroom).
- Deliveries will be prioritised for buyers in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, and Gurugram, with cars dispatched on flat-bed trucks directly to homes.
India entry
- Tesla officially entered India in July with its Mumbai showroom and Model Y launch.
- The Centre has cut import tariffs on electric vehicles costing more than $40,000 from 100% to 70% to encourage global EV makers such as Tesla to sell in India.
