Tesla has revealed the range-topping Model Y. Called the Tesla Model Y Performance, as per the brand’s nomenclature, the top-spec variant gets up to 580km of WLTP range, exterior changes and more features than the Long Range, which is currently on sale in India.

Claimed 0-100kph time of 3.5 seconds is 2.1 seconds quicker than India-spec Model Y Long Range.

As is usually the case with Tesla cars, the EV maker has neither revealed the battery capacity nor the power or torque figures. However, Tesla says the AWD Model Y Performance has a 0-100kph time of 3.5 seconds, which makes it 1.3 seconds quicker than the AWD Long Range version on sale abroad, and 2.1 seconds quicker than the RWD Long Range available in India. Top speed is limited to 250kph. Tesla also says the Model Y Performance’s battery can top up 243km range on a 15 minute fast charge. Other mechanical changes include selectable ride modes for the suspension.

Gets larger 21-inch alloy wheels and larger 16-inch infotainment touchscreen.

Compared to other Model Y variants, the top-spec Performance gets larger 21-inch Arachnid alloy wheels and a badge denoting the variant. The range-topper is available in the same six colour options as the Standard and Long Range trims, though Pearl White Multi-Coat is the only one that does not cost extra. Diamond Black, Stealth Grey, Deep Blue Metallic, Quicksilver and Ultra Red colours are optional. The interior of the Model Y Performance gets a carbon-fibre finish, sports seats, a 15-speaker, 1 subwoofer audio system, and all the features available on the Long Range variant on sale in India.
Tesla Model Y in India
At the moment, Tesla India has the Standard and Long Range RWD versions of the Model Ypriced at Rs 59.86 lakh and Rs 67.89 lakh, respectively. There is no word on the Performance AWD version coming to India yet.
