Sea Hear Now: Bruce Springsteen and E Street Band headline festival
Bruce Springsteen played a surprise show at the Stone Pony on Sept. 14, and then headlined the main stage on Sept. 15, 2024, at Sea Hear Now.
The pop-up is popping up in a new place this year.
The Transparent Clinch Gallery pop-up, part of the Sea Hear Now music, surfing and art festival in Asbury Park on Saturday, Sept. 13, and Sunday, Sept. 14, will now be on the beach just south of Convention Hall instead of in Bradley Park. Headliners are Hozier on Saturday and Blinch-182 on Sunday.
The gallery pop-up is the spot for intimate musical surprises and peeks at the artwork of performers. Works from Lenny Kravitz, Alabama Shakes, Sublime, Public Enemy, ZZ Top, Remi Wolf, Royel Otis, Gigi Perez, Trombone Shortly, Grace Bowers, Neal Francis, Mondo Cozmo, Phoneboy, Surfing for Diasy, Not Yer Baby, the Tide Bends and Danny Clinch will be on display this weekend.
Clinch is a Toms River native who has photographed the greats of music, from Bruce Springsteen to Tupac Shakur. His Transparent Clinch Gallery, which showcases live performances and Clinch’s photos, is adjacent to The Asbury hotel on the city’s waterfront.
He and city promoter Tim Donnelly founded the fest in 2018 with C3 Presents, the team behind Lollapalooza. The mission has been to expand the festival beyond the parameters of a musical event with locally sourced art and surfing components.
That includes Asbury Park visual artist Pork Chop’s jellyfish installation and surfboard arch again serving as the festival’s visual compass. The music history of Asbury Park will be on display as interpreted by area artists. Ben Currie’s New Jersey wave photography will be shown on the sand as well.
