
Maharashtra Mumbai Rains LIVE Updates: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded the ‘red’ alert in Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Palghar districts for Sunday. The warning will remain in place until Monday morning. The weather bureau has indicated that heavy to very heavy rains will continue across Mumbai throughout the day. According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) disaster management cell, the Andheri subway has been shut down for traffic movement on Sunday morning.
Local train services of the Central Railway and Western Railway were running with some delays, while buses of the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking were plying without any diversion. The IMD observatory at Colaba recorded 120.8 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours, followed by 83.8 mm at Santacruze observatory. There will be a high tide of 3.24 metres at 2.55 pm and a low tide of 1.31 metres at 8.50 pm, news agency PTI reported, quoting an official.

Govt advisory: The government has appealed to the public to follow official instructions, avoid hazardous zones and refrain from travelling to flood-prone areas, as per a release. People are advised not to take shelter under trees during thunderstorms and to take all precautions for flood safety, avoiding unnecessary travel. They have also been strictly cautioned against crossing waterlogged roads or bridges, and urged not to spread or believe rumours, the release stated.
