Tata Punch EVIndia’s EV market soared in September, with sales more than doubling over last year on the back of strong passenger-car and two-wheeler demand, per data shared by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) on Wednesday.
Passenger EVs saw retail sales rise to 15,329 units last month, up from 6,191 units in September 2024. Tata Motors led the segment with 6,216 units, marking a 62 per cent increase over 3,833 units sold in the year-ago period. JSW MG Motor posted a more than three-fold jump with 3,912 units, while Mahindra & Mahindra sold 3,243 units, up from 475 units a year earlier.
Other auto players adding to the tally included BYD India (547 units), Kia India (506 units), Hyundai Motor India (349 units), BMW India (310 units), Mercedes-Benz India (97 units), and Tesla India (64 units).
Two-wheelers ride the momentum
The two-wheeler EV segment also registered strong growth, with retail sales rising 15 per cent to 1,04,220 units from 90,549 units in September 2024. TVS Motor led the category with 22,509 units, followed by Bajaj Auto (19,580 units), Ather Energy (18,141 units), Ola Electric (13,383 units), and Hero MotoCorp (12,753 units).
