With the implementation of the new GST 2.0 tax structure, motorcycles with engines below 350cc have become more affordable — and the timing couldn’t be better, with the festive season just around the corner. The revised tax rates have led to a notable reduction in prices, especially for models that rely on high volumes and competitive pricing.
Here, we have considered two fierce competitors — the Hero Splendor+ and the Honda Shine 100 DX — to see how much their prices have dropped and how they stack up against each other after the recent revision.
Hero Splendor+ price after GST
The Splendor+ prices have fallen by up to Rs 6,820
The Hero Splendor+ is offered in three main variants — Standard, Xtec, and Xtec 2.0. Here, we are primarily considering the Splendor+, but for reference, current prices range from Rs 73,902 to Rs 80,471. The differences between the models are largely due to features such as an LCD dash, LED headlight, and disc brake, among others. With the GST 2.0 revision, the price of the Splendor+ has dropped by up to Rs 6,820.
The Splendor+ has consistently been a high-volume product for Hero MotoCorp, helping it maintain its top position in the market. It is powered by a 97.2cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 8hp and 8Nm, paired with a 4-speed gearbox.
Honda Shine 100 DX price after GST
The Shine 100 prices have fallen by up to Rs 5,265
The Honda Shine 100 is offered in two variants — Standard and DX. Here, we have mainly pitted the DX against the Hero Splendor+. For reference, the Shine 100 Standard is priced at Rs 63,191, while the DX sits slightly higher at Rs 69,694. The differences between the two variants are largely due to an LCD dash, chrome accents, different graphics, and a 1-litre larger fuel tank in the DX. Earlier in August, the Shine 100 DX was launched at Rs 74,959, meaning it has seen a reduction of Rs 5,265 at its current price.
The Shine 100 DX is powered by a 98.9cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 7.38hp and 8.05Nm, paired with a 4-speed gearbox.
Hero Splendor+ vs Shine 100 DX price comparison
The Splendor+ range is priced Rs 4,208 higher than the Shine 100 DX.
The Shine range starts at a much lower price point, but as a trade-off, it comes with a less powerful engine and fewer features. The Splendor+ is priced Rs 4,208 higher than the Shine 100 DX. While the DX is the top-end variant of the Shine range, the Splendor+ is the base model. Buyers can move up the ladder to the Xtec 2.0, which adds an LED headlight and DRL, or the Xtec, which adds a disc brake and is also the most expensive Splendor variant.
