Woman Commanding Officer In Indian Navy: A historic event took place in the Indian Navy on Friday to go down in history. Chief Of The Naval Staff Admiral Hari Kumar said on Friday that the first woman commanding officer has been appointed in the navy. Speaking at a press conference ahead of Navy Day, Admiral Kumar said that the first woman commanding officer has been appointed in a ship of the Indian Navy in the spirit of the slogan 'All Posts – All Ranks'. He said that Agnipath Scheme is a historic change in job placements.
The first batch of Agniveers graduated from INS Chilka in March this year, including 272 female Agniveer trainees, the Admiral said. He said the second batch of Agniveers had a total of 454 women and with the third batch that number crossed 1,000. The Chief of Navy Staff informed the personnel that steps are being taken to deploy women in all ranks of the service.
The admiral said that the first woman commanding officer has also been appointed and steps are being taken to ensure that the men and women working in the navy carry out their duties with commitment. He said that 2023 will be a great year for our country compared to previous years and will leave an indelible mark in the fields of finance, diplomacy and sports. It is also said that this year is special for the Navy as during this period, ships, submarines and aircraft have conducted military operations.
He said that naval forces are constantly operating in Indian Ocean waters for the security and interests of the country and Indian Navy teams are always ready for war. He said that the Indian Navy regularly monitors China's movements in the Indian Ocean and has deployed ships at a satisfactory level in the Indo-Pacific region for national interests.
The admiral said that the ships are constantly moving across the Indo-Pacific region and the submarines have gone to foreign ports in Oman, Australia and Indonesia. In the data-level operational readiness exercise held in January and February this year, 151 operational units were said to have participated. He famously mentioned the operations of two aircraft carriers of the Indian Navy, Vikrant and Vikramaditya.
Admiral Kumar said that the maiden take-off of the LCA Navy, MiG29K Vikrant, in February this year was a source of great joy. He said that the Indian Navy is on the right track with increasing 'self-reliance' in the defense sector. He said that India is looking for new ways to develop new technology and utilize funds. A capital budget of Rs. Crossing the Rs 50,000 crore mark, the revenue budget has seen a 26 per cent increase, Admiral revealed.
