The selectors recalled an all-rounder after more than three years while they rewarded two IPL performers with a place in the national team. There are few players who will play the T20I series against West Indies and the Asian Games as well. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad has been handed captaincy upon his return to the T20I squad. Rahul Tripathi, Jitesh Sharma, Washington Sundar and Shivam Mavi have made their returns after being ignored for the West Indies series. These four players were part of the home T20I series against New Zealand.
The selectors have rewarded Shivam Dube for his consistent performances in IPL 2023. The star all-rounder is back in the side after being away for more than three years. He made it to Team India in Hardik Pandya’s absence and was dropped as soon as the star all-rounder returned. Shahbaz Ahmed has also made his return.

As many as seven players who are part of the T20I series against West Indies will not play the Asian Games. No player has been dropped. They are in contention for the 2023 ODI World Cup and won’t be available for Asian Games. But this does not mean that all these players are confirmed selections in the World Cup squad.
Hardik Pandya, Sanju Samson, Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Umran Malik are part of the WI series but haven’t been included in the Asian Games squad.
