After amassing 851 runs for Gujarat Titans in the IPL, Shubman Gill’s form has taken a hit. The youngster got out cheaply in the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia, scoring only 13 and 18. He is not having a good outing with the bat in the ongoing tour of West Indies as well. In the five innings on the tour Shubman has scored 6, 10 & 29 not out (in Test), 7 and 34 (in ODIs).
However, team India head coach Rahul Dravid is not worried about Shubman’s form saying the youngster is batting well and has not looked out of form.
“I won’t worry much about Shubman Gill. He is batting beautifully. He is playing really well. He looks really good. It can happen,” he told reporters after the second ODI.
“You can’t criticise people after every single game. You know these things can happen. It’s not easy batting conditions, let’s be honest. We needed to grind and find our way out there. We probably didn’t do that through the middle overs.
“Shubman is batting well and he is a very important part of I guess all the three formats of the game for us now. Hopefully, he will have a good game in Trininad,” he added.
India had a five-wicket win over the West Indies in the first match on Thursday. The final ODI of the three-match series is on Tuesday at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad.
