As India celebrates its 77th Independence Day with vigour and nationalist sentiment booming on the streets, it is not only the Indian locals who are hoisting the tricolour flag. To commemorate the important day, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai lit up and honoured India.
Burj Khalifa Displays Indian Flag On Independence Day
The skyscraper, known for being the world’s tallest building, often lights up in vibrant colours on important days. Whether it be Shah Rukh Khan’s Birthday or an important world tournament, the Burj Khalifa is the first to congratulate them. So, it was expected that on India’s special day, the Dubai skyscraper would touch hearts with a magnificent display of the Indian flag.
As expected, the Burj Khalifa lit up in bright saffron, white, and green colours to delight the Indian nationals. The moment was shared on Twitter, or X, by user Mufaddal Vohra. In the clip, which has since gone viral with nearly 500K views, the Burj Khalifa is seen flashing the Indian flag on its sky-touching stretch of glass panels. Along with the Indian flag displayed on the Burj, the clip is decorated by the instrumental rendition of India’s National Anthem, ‘Jana Gana Mana.’

The user who shared the video on social media shared how the moment was rather surreal and gave him goosebumps. This display of support for India comes after a day of confusion in Dubai. On August 14th, videos of some Pakistani natives went viral on the internet as they were filmed taking part in a ruckus that unfurled in front of the Burj Khalifa.

Hundreds of Pakistanis gathered in front of the Burj Khalifa before midnight to watch the Burj Khali be coloured in their national flag colours. However, after a few minutes passed by after 12 a.m., the crowd grew disappointed and started vocalising their chagrin.
This ruckus later reached social media and went viral. However, it is important to note that the Pakistani flag was in fact displayed on the world-famous skyscraper. A video of this was shared by Burj Khalifa’s original handle on Instagram.
Meanwhile, Indians celebrated their Independence Day with devotion and excitement as the streets and houses were lined up with Tirangas, and some even took part in private ceremonies to hoist the National flag.
Additionally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation from the Red Fort. This was PM Modi’s 10th Independence Day celebration speech. The whole address lasted 90 minutes, as he touched upon a myriad of ongoing issues in the country.
