Bangladesh captain Shakib al Hasan and senior player Mushfiqur Rahim returned to Dhaka Sunday after getting a three-day leave from the team management.
Mushfiq returned to Dhaka to be with his wife as they are expecting their second baby.
According to Bangladesh Cricket Board’s cricket operations committee department, Shakib took the leave on personal grounds.
The whole Bangladesh team in fact were given three-day break and the cricketers used this leave to return to the country for a short trip.
Both the cricketers are expected to join the side ahead of the final Super Four match against India Friday.
Bangladesh’s chances of making it to the final look very slim following their two consecutive defeats at the Super Four stage.
In the first match, they conceded a seven-wicket defeat to Pakistan before tasting a 21-run defeat to Sri Lanka Saturday.
Their hopes of making it to the final of the tournament now lie entirely on other results going their way coupled with favorable net run-rates.
As Bangladesh had to play four games in three different cities in just 10 days, there were some niggles and small injuries, which the team management thinks should be addressed.
In those three days, the physio will work with the players carrying the niggles and they will also continue gym and swimming session.
