New Delhi , Those driving vehicles without valid pollution check certificate (PUC) in Delhi should be cautious. Delhi Transport Department has started a campaign against polluting vehicles from Tuesday. This team will take action not only against polluting vehicles but also against 10 year old diesel vehicles and 15 year old petrol vehicles.

There are still more than 10 percent vehicles in Delhi which do not have a valid PUC. According to Transport Department officials, teams have been deployed on different roads of Delhi, especially those routes where there is more pollution. Hotspots have been identified in terms of pollution. For this, more than 80 teams of the transport department have been sent.
This team will not only issue challan to those who do not have valid pollution test certificates on the roads, but will also take action against those vehicles which have valid PUC, but clear smoke is seen coming out from their vehicles. According to the data of the Transport Department, there are more than 10 percent vehicles which do not get PUC checked on time.
Investigations are being done through cameras at petrol pumps.
Under the pilot scheme, the Transport Department is installing cameras at four petrol pumps in Delhi to identify such vehicles which do not get pollution checked. For this, cameras have been installed at one petrol pump in Yamuna Vihar, two in Model Town and one in Gulabi Bagh. These cameras have been working since September 21. In the last ten days, 3000 vehicles have been checked, out of which valid pollution test certificates have not been found for more than 300 vehicles. Challan is also being sent to them.
