Chennai: Pakistan lost again in the 26th match of the ICC World Cup 2023 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, while South Africa won by 1 wicket. With this, Pakistan’s path to the semi-finals is difficult.
After losing the toss and batting first, Pakistan were bowled out for 270 runs in 46.4 overs. Apart from captain Babar Azam and Saud Shakeel’s fifties and Shadab Khan’s 43 runs, no other player stayed at the crease for long. Due to this, South Africa lost all wickets in 46.4 overs and set a target of 271 runs to win. For South Africa, Tabriz Shamsi took 4 wickets, Marco John Sen 3, Gerald Koizi 2 wickets.
Aiden Markram batted brilliantly for the South African team chasing the target of 271 runs given by Pakistan. He played an important role in the team’s victory by scoring 91 runs off 93 balls with 3 sixes and 7 fours.

Apart from Markram, no other player failed to score a good run. As a result, South Africa scored 271 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 47.2 overs. Tabriz Shamsi, who took four wickets for South Africa, won the man of the match award.
