The umpire’s call in LBW decisions has led to massive controversy in the ICC World Cup 2023. David Warner was furious with the on-field during one of the matches.
In the most recent contest between Pakistan and South Africa, there were two such calls, with former player Gautam Gambhir urging the International Cricket Council to remove the umpire’s call situation and declare the batter out if the ball clips the stumps.
Pakistan could have won the game had the umpire ruled Tabraiz Shamsi out. However, it was the umpire’s call when the Men in Green went for DRS.
Earlier, Rassie van der Dussen had to go back to the dressing room after the umpire’s call went against him.
“I am not saying this because Pakistan lost the game. This happened with South Africa as well and the ICC should make the rule clean. The batter should be declared out if the ball clips the bails,” he said.
