The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) inaugurated the statue of Sachin Tendulkar at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday, November 1. The ceremony took place at 5 pm. Sachin’s statue has been installed near the Sachin Tendulkar stand in the stadium. This statue is dedicated to 50 years of his life. Sachin celebrated his 50th birthday in April this year.
Apart from Sachin Tendulkar, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, BCCI Secretary Jai Shah, BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla and NCP leader Sharad Pawar were also present at the unveiling ceremony. During this, Sachin’s wife Anjali and daughter Sara were also present.
After a successful career spanning two decades, Sachin played his 200th and final Test at the Wankhede Stadium in November 2013.

Sachin puts cricket above family – Shah
Jai Shah said that Sachin Tendulkar used to put cricket above his family. When Sachin was playing the World Cup in 1999, his father passed away. After this he again went to England and scored a century against Kenya and dedicated it to his late father and the country.
Shah further said that it was Sachin who had suggested that MS Dhoni should be made the captain of Team India.

I played my first Ranji match here- Sachin
Talking about the construction of the statue, Sachin Tendulkar had said in March this year, ‘I am very happy. It all started in 1988 at Wankhede. This is where I played my first Ranji match. Before I became a professional player, it was here that coach Achrekar sir reprimanded me and after that I became a serious cricketer. This is a very special place for me, I have very special memories associated with this place. It is a big thing for my statue to be built in Wankhede Stadium.

The 2011 World Cup final was held at Wankhede Stadium.
The final of the 2011 ODI World Cup was played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Here India defeated Sri Lanka and won the World Cup after 28 years. India became the first host team to win the World Cup. Before this, no team had won the World Cup on its own soil. With this, Sachin Tendulkar’s dream of winning the World Cup was also fulfilled.

Statue of an Indian player installed for the second time after CK Nayudu
Sachin is the second Indian cricketer whose statue is installed in the stadium. Till now, only statues of former Indian captain Colonel CK Naidu have been installed at three different places. These include Holkar Stadium in Indore, Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) Stadium in Nagpur and YSR Stadium in Andhra.

Colonel CK Naidu played 7 test matches for India. Apart from this, he scored 11,825 runs in 207 first class cricket matches. He played his last match for India in 1936.
There is also a wall in the name of Rahul Dravid in Chinnaswamy Stadium.
There is also a wall in the name of former Indian batsman Rahul Dravid outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. On which three words ‘Commitment, Class and Consistency’ are written. These three words describe the personality of Rahul Dravid very well. Dravid has also received the title of ‘The Wall’ i.e. best defensive player.

A wall in Dravid’s name was built outside the Bangalore Stadium in 2008.
