- The fasting person has to give up food for 5 days of Bhishma Panchak. He can only eat fruits.
- Do not insult any elder even by mistake in these 5 days. Worship Peepal and Tulsi daily.
- At the beginning of this fast, light the Akhand Jyoti and recite Geeta daily.
- On the last day of Bhishma Panchak fast, perform Havan on Kartik Purnima and end the fast by worshiping Shri Hari.
