Earlier, Gautam Gambhir has worked as a ‘mentor’ of the Lucknow Super Giants team. Now he has left the post of ‘mentor’ of the Lucknow team. Now he has been linked with Kolkata Knight Riders. Gautam Gambhir captained Kolkata Knight Riders when they won the IPL in 2012 and 2014. “I am not an emotional person and many things do not motivate me. But this is different,” Gambhir said in a statement. “It’s all back to where it started. The thought of wearing that purple and gold jersey one more time today makes my throat tighten and my heart swell.”
Gambhir, who was part of T20 (2007) and ODI (2011) World Cup winning teams, joined Kolkata Knight Riders in 2011 and was with the team till 2017. KKR qualified for the IPL playoffs five times during this period (including the two years they won the tournament) and reached the final of the Champions League T20 in 2014.
