New guidelines for MPs have been issued after Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra was accused of taking money to ask questions in Parliament. So now only MPs can use the Lok Sabha portal. They cannot share their login ID with anyone else. They have also been asked to maintain confidentiality. Following allegations of taking money for asking questions in Parliament, Trinamool MP Mahua Moitra admitted that she had given the login ID and password of the Lok Sabha portal to Darshan Hiranandani. It has also been alleged that the same Darshan Hiranandani was asking questions in the Lok Sabha on behalf of Mahua Moitra. Moitra is being investigated in this matter.
The Ethics Committee of Parliament, which is probing allegations of allegedly accepting bribes to ask questions in the Lok Sabha, has recommended the disqualification of Mahua Moitra as an MP. The committee’s report has been accepted by 6 to 4 votes and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla is going to take a decision on the matter. Similarly, guidelines for MPs have now been issued ahead of the next Lok Sabha session.
