Less than a month after he was struck by a car and had to be taken to the hospital, Kelly Oubre is again practicing with the team, joined them on a two-game road trip and is expected to make his return next week, according to multiple reports.
Oubre is with the team on its two-game road trip to New Orleans and Boston, reports Noah Levick of NBC Sports Philadelphia. Oubre is not likely to play in those games but is targeting a return next week, reports Shams Charania of The Athletic.
After suffering a fractured rib on Nov. 11, Philadelphia 76ers forward Kelly Oubre Jr. is targeting a return to action next week, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Oubre suffered a broken rib as well as bruises and other soft tissue injuries when he was struck by a car on Nov. 11 and had to be taken to the hospital. While there have been questions about the details of the incident, police have considered Oubre as the victim of a crime — the person in the car that struck him did not stop — and the team has backed him through his recovery.
Philly could use Oubre — a late summer bargain signing by the 76ers — as he was a key part of their fast start to the season before his injury (the Sixers were 7-1 with him in the lineup). Oubre averaged 16.3 points and 5.1 rebounds a game this season, and while he may come off the bench at the start of his return just having him in the lineup will help.
