The Punjab Police Tuesday claimed to have arrested an alleged associate of deceased Khalistani terrorist Lakhbir Singh Rode from Amritsar.
The arrested UK citizen, Paramjit Singh Dhadi, has been involved in terror funding and other subversive activities in Punjab, according to the police. He was previously arrested in Punjab after explosives were recovered from him in 2006 and he later served a five-year-prison sentence in the case.

Lakhbir Singh Rode, the self-styled chief of the banned outfits Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) and International Sikh Youth Federation, reportedly died in Pakistan on Monday at the age of 72
A nephew of slain Khalistani militant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, Lakhbir Singh Rode was listed as an ‘individual terrorist’ under the UA(P)A and had fled to Pakistan.
However, Jasbir Singh Rode, brother of Lakhbir Singh Rode, stated that Dhadi had been in India for the last two months and was returning to the UK when the police apprehended him at the airport. Jasbir Singh Rode asserted that Dhadi regularly visited India, though he has been a UK citizen for 40 years.
Jasbir Singh Rode stated, “Dhadi is my friend, and he met me just two days ago as he had to go back. He landed in India in September. He comes to India almost every year. I don’t know the reason behind his arrest as yet, but I just got the news. But he is not involved in any terror activity.”
On December 24, 2006, the Jalandhar police arrested Dhadi along with two others. They claimed to have recovered explosives, including 11 kg of RDX, 11 detonators, 11 timer devices, four hand grenades, two batteries, two pistols with four magazines and 100 cartridges, 10 m wire, and one walkie-talkie set.
In 2010, a sessions court in Jalandhar sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment for five years as he was found guilty of various charges under Explosive Substances Act and Arms Act.
