Vijay Hazare Trophy: Bihar and Assam end campaign with defeats

KOLKATA: Bihar finished with just two points in Vijay Hazare Trophy as they were handed their sixth loss of the tournament by Chandigarh in their Group C game in Ahmedabad on Tuesday. Chandigarh made 253/8 batting first and then dismissed Bihar for 153 in 41.4 overs to win the game by 100 runs.
It was a disastrous campaign for Bipin Saurabh & Co as they failed to grab a single win in the tournament and finished last in the group.For Chandigarh, it was their third win of the tournament and it came after four consecutive losses that helped them finish fourth on the table.
Assam’s poor show also continued as they finished the tournament with five losses. On Tuesday, they went down to Rajasthan by 8 wickets in their Group D game in Chandigarh. Electing to bat first, Assam were dismissed for 118 in 28.3 overs of which as many as 20 runs came from extras. Chasing 119 to win, Rajasthan lost opener Mahipal Lomror early on but comfortably reached the target in 24 overs.
The loss saw Assam finish sixth on the table with just four points while Rajasthan bagged the top spot with an all-win record and qualified for the knockouts.
