VIDEO: Wild storm brings downpour of hail, lightning and thunder across Cincinnati
WEBSITE WLWT.COM. ALL RIGHT. DECEMBER 5TH HERE ON THE CALENDAR, WE’VE GOT SOME PRETTY WACKY DECEMBER WEATHER HAPPENING. YEAH, WE’VE GOT SOME HAIL AND SOME THUNDER AND LIGHTNING. AND IF YOU SEE ANY OF THAT AND YOU CAPTURED IT ON VIDEO, GIVE US AN EMAIL NEWS DESK AT WLWT. DOT COM NEWSDESK WLWT.COM. AND TELL US WHERE YOU ARE, WHAT YOUR NAME IS, AND ALLISON, WE’RE STARTING TO GET SOME OF THOSE VIDEOS INTO THE NEWSROOM RIGHT NOW. YEAH. SPECIAL THANKS TO ABBY OUT IN FLORENCE, KENTUCKY. SO LOOK AT ALL THIS HAIL THAT’S OUT THERE. MOMENTS AGO AS THIS STORM WAS MOVING THROUGH, HAD SOME REPORTS OF SOME PEA SIZED HAIL. AND HERE IT IS RIGHT HERE. THAT’S NOT SNOW COMING DOWN ON THE 5TH OF DECEMBER. NO, THAT’S ACTUALLY HAIL. IT’S NOT EVEN SLEET MIXING IN WITH THE RAINFALL BECAUSE THIS ONE LITTLE THUNDERSTORM THAT HAPPENED TO GO OVER THE AIRPORT BECAME JUST STRONG ENOUGH THAT IT PRODUCED NOT ONLY HAIL, BUT ALSO THUNDER AND LIGHTNING. AGAIN, ALL ON DECEMBER 5TH, WHEN WE ALSO HAD REPORTS OF SNOW EARLIER THIS MORNING. THAT STORM MAKING ITS WAY AWAY FROM THE AIRPORT RIGHT NOW. HOPEFULLY THAT HELPS THINGS OUT WITH THOSE FLIGHTS. I KNOW THEY WERE A COUPLE OF REPORTS OF SOME DELAYS OUT THERE. BUT RIGHT NOW, THAT STORM IS STARTING TO APPROACH AREAS OF INDEPENDENCE. SO WE HAVE THUNDER AND LIGHTNING ALSO APPROACHING RYLAND HEIGHTS, TAYLOR MILL DEALING WITH THAT THUNDER AND LIGHTNING AT THE MOMENT. DON’T BE SURPRISED IF YOU DO WIND UP WITH SOME SMALL PEA SIZED HAIL WITH THIS STORM. HERE IT IS GOING TO CONTINUE TO DIVE TO THE SOUTH AND EAST AS WE GO THROUGHOUT THE REST OF GREATER CINCINNATI. WE ALSO HAVE SOME RAIN, BUT SO FAR NO REPORTS OF ANY OTHER LIGHTNING OR THUNDER HAPPENING. ACTUALLY, THERE’S ONE LITTLE BOLT RIGHT THERE OUTSIDE OF ANDERSON, JUST AROUND THE TURPIN AREA. SO THERE YOU GO. COUPLE OF THESE THUNDERSTORMS ARE JUST STRONG ENOUGH THAT THEY ARE TAPPING INTO ENERGY, PRODUCING SOME THUNDER AND LIGHTNING AS WE GO FARTHER TO THE NORTH. RIGHT NOW, IT’S JUST RAINFALL ACROSS PARTS OF CLINTON AND WARREN COUNTY, MORROW, SEEING SOME OF THE HEAVIER RAINFALL AT THE MOMENT. THAT’S IMPACTING AREAS ALONG I 71, TOO. SO IF YOU KNOW ANYONE WHO’S TRYING TO COME HOME FROM WORK AND THEY’VE GOT TO GO EITHER NORTHBOUND OR SOUTHBOUND ON 71 AND WARREN COUNTY, THAT’S SOMETHING THAT’S LIKELY GOING TO SLOW DOWN TRAFFIC THERE. IT’S ALL PART OF THE SYSTEM. THIS WARM FRONT RIGHT HERE THAT’S EDGING THROUGH GREATER CINCINNATI, A COLD FRONT TO THE SOUTH. WE’VE GOT OTHER REPORTS OF SOME LIGHTNING DOWN INTO NORTHERN KENTUCKY, RATHER, CENTRAL AND WESTERN KENTUCKY AND PARTS OF TENNESSEE AS WELL. GOING THROUGH THE REST OF TONIGHT, PLAN ON SOME SCATTERED SHOWERS. I GUESS I HAVE TO ADD SOME THUNDER TO THE FORECAST, TOO, FOR THE NEXT HOUR OR SO. AND THEN AS WE HEAD INTO THE OVERNIGHT HOURS, THESE TEMPERATURES ARE GOING TO DROP BY ABOUT TEN DEGREES, 41 IN CINCINNATI RIGHT NOW GOING THROUGH THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS HERE ON FUTURE CAST. YOU’LL NOTICE AS WE APPROACH THE 11:00 HOUR, YOU’RE JOINING US BACK HERE FOR NEWS FIVE. AT 11, WE’LL STILL HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF RAINFALL ACROSS GREATER CINCINNATI. I DON’T EXPECT A LOT, BUT THERE IS STILL THAT POTENTIAL. THEN THROUGH THE DAY TOMORROW, WE ARE GOING TO STAY MOSTLY DRY, BUT WE’LL HAVE LOTS OF CLOUDS AROUND GREATER CINCINNATI TOMORROW. SO I DON’T EXPECT IT TO BE A BEAUTIFUL DAY. HOWEVER, THAT IS LIKELY TO CHANGE STARTING ON THURSDAY, WE’LL HAVE SOME SUNSHINE RETURNING TEMPERATURES IN THE LOWER 50S FOR WEDNESDAY, THOUGH CLOUDY WITH HIGHS RIGHT AROUND 42. YOU MIGHT EVEN SEE A ROGUE FLURRY FLYING THROUGH THE SKY TOMORROW OR EVEN SOME SPRINKLES JUST BECAUSE WE HAVE THAT NORTH WIND COMING IN. SO WE MIGHT END UP SEEING SOME OF THAT COLDER AIR FROM THE LAKE AND SOME OF THAT MOISTURE FROM THE LAKE COMING IN HERE AS WELL. OTHER THAN THAT, AS WE GO INTO THE WEEKEND, STARTS TO GET ACTIVE AGAIN. WE’VE GOT ANOTHER STORM CENTER TAKING AIM AT GREATER CINCINNATI. THAT IS GOING TO BRING US TO WEATHER IMPACT DAYS SATURDAY, ANOTHER CHANCE OF SOME THUNDER AND LIGHTNING. SO IF YOU’RE MISSING OUT TONIGHT, THERE’S ALWAYS SATURDAY. AND THEN B
