The Las Vegas Raiders might have to play Thursday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers without Josh Jacobs.
Appearing on NFL Network’s Good Morning FootballIan Rapoport said Jacobs’ status is “very much in doubt” due to a quad injury he suffered in the Week 14 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

It’s felt like Jacobs was a long shot to play in the week leading up to tonight’s game. He sat out practices on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Trying to play with a quad injury on a short week is a risky proposition anyway. Interim head coach Antonio Pierce initially told reporters after the loss to Minnesota it was a knee injury that Jacobs suffered.
“Tough guy,” Pierce said of his star running back. “I mean, we’ll have them look and go with our medical staff on that, but he tried to fight as best he can. He wasn’t able to finish. We’ll look into that tomorrow.”
Jacobs suffered the injury in the fourth quarter and went to the locker room to be examined. He finished the game with 34 rushing yards on 13 carries. It was his second-lowest output of the season after having negative two yards in a Week 2 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
Both teams enter Thursday’s game with rosters depleted because of injuries. The Chargers will be without Justin Herbert, whose season ended when he had surgery to repair a broken finger on Tuesday, and Keenan Allen won’t play due to a hip injury.
Davante Adams and Maxx Crosby are questionable for the Raiders. Adams was added to the injury report on Wednesday with an illness. Crosby has been dealing with a knee injury for multiple weeks, but he’s played in all 13 games to this point in the season.
If Jacobs is unable to play on Thursday night, the Raiders will likely turn to Zamir White as their starting running back. Ameer Abdullah could also see increased playing time.
