As per an article in New Yorkpost, in addition to frequent ketamine infusions for depression and drug addiction treatment, Perry’s autopsy revealed the presence of testosterone in his system.
The hormone, administered through injections, reportedly made him “angry and mean,” as mentioned by a friend in the autopsy report.
While it remains unclear how Perry acquired the tranquilizer ketamine, a female associate stated that despite irritability from the testosterone treatments, Perry seemed generally happy in the days leading up to his death. The 29-page autopsy report indicated that she last spoke to him a few days before the incident, and he appeared to be in good spirits.
According to a close associate, Matthew Perry had communicated that he had no intentions of taking his own life and was optimistic about his future. He reportedly expressed hope for the days ahead, even requesting his doctors to gradually reduce his reliance on ketamine and Buprenorphine, both medications used in the treatment of drug addiction. Perry was said to have celebrated 19 months of reported sobriety before his tragic death.
The associate also mentioned that Perry was undergoing testosterone shots, and she believed these injections contributed to his demeanor of being “angry and mean” in the weeks leading up to the unfortunate incident.
The reasons behind Matthew Perry being prescribed testosterone, known for its potential to trigger aggression, remain unclear. However, it is speculated that it might have been prescribed to counter the effects of an estrogen-based weight loss drug he was also taking. Authorities described Perry as “mildly obese.”
Upon investigating Perry’s $6 million The Angels cottage, law enforcement found various drugs scattered throughout the residence. In the assistant’s bedroom, where Perry was discovered face down in the heated pool, officials found numerous open, empty, and partially filled medication bottles prescribed to him. Additionally, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, digestive aids, and various loose pills, tablets, caplets, candy, and breath mints were also discovered.
Inside Matthew Perry’s home, investigators found multiple nicotine vaping products and nicotine lollipops. A friend informed officers that Perry had recently quit smoking, but his assistant contradicted this claim, stating that the actor was still smoking two packs a day. Notably, there were no signs of alcohol, illicit drugs, or drug paraphernalia near the jacuzzi or within the residence.
The autopsy report revealed high levels of ketamine in Perry’s bloodstream, with trace amounts of the drug’s powder found in his stomach. Ketamine has a short half-life, and the amount detected in Perry’s system was compared to the general anesthesia administered to surgical patients.
Despite the absence of discussions about tissue donation due to the family’s distress, the autopsy indicated that Perrywho had shared his struggles with addiction in his 2022 memoir, had been clean and sober for 19 months leading up to his unexpected death. Perry’s passing deeply affected fans and loved ones, with grief reportedly preventing discussions about post-mortem processes.
