Margashirsha Purnima 2023: In Sanatan Dharma, the full moon day is considered very important. The month of Margashirsha is dedicated to Lord Krishna. This time Margashirsha Purnima will be celebrated on 26 December 2023 i.e. Tuesday. According to mythological beliefs, the Satyayuga period started from the month of Margashirsha itself. It is believed that bathing, charity, and tapasya (penance) done on this day prove to be very beneficial.

According to the Hindu calendar, the full moon date of Shukla Paksha of Margashirsha month is known as Margashirsha Purnima. The last Purnima of the year will be celebrated on 26 December. This time the Purnima Tithi will start on 26th December at 5.46 am and will end on 27th December at 6.02 am.
Method of worship of Margashirsha Purnima (Margashirsha Purnima 2023 Pujan Vidhi)
On this day, wake up early, take bath and clean the house. On this day, put Bandarwar on the main entrance of your house and make rangoli in front of the house. Sprinkle Ganga water at the place of worship and if possible, apply cow dung. Offer water to Tulsi. Mix Ganga water and raw milk and offer it to Lord Vishnu, Lord Ganesha and Mother Lakshmi. After this, offer Abeer, Gulal, Sandalwood, Akshat, flowers, Mauli, Basil leaves to God. Read the story of Satyanarayan and take blessings from all the elders involved in the puja and give prasad to everyone.
Importance of Margashirsha Purnima
According to mythological belief, fasting and worshiping on Margashirsha Purnima brings special blessings of Lord Vishnu. On this day one should take bath with the soil of basil root in a holy river, lake or pond. It is said that donations made on this day give 32 times more results than other Purnima, hence it is also called Battisi Purnima. On the occasion of Margashirsha Purnima, there is a belief of worshiping and telling stories of Lord Satyanarayan.

1. On this day, wake up early in the morning and take bath before sunrise.
2. Go to some holy place and take bath.
3. Fasting on this day should be done with utmost devotion, cleanliness and devotion.
4. Stay away from foods like onion, garlic, meat, fish, alcohol etc.
5. If you are fasting then do not sleep in the afternoon.
6. Offer churma to God during puja.
7. Donate food and essential items to a worthy Brahmin.
