Jhansi. Under the aegis of Uttar Pradesh Sports Powerlifting Association, regional level powerlifting competition was organized in Agra from 22nd December to 24th December. Taking part in this competition for the first time, four players of the district – Mehjabeen Khan, Jabir Khan, Hina Khan and Abhishek Shukla have enhanced the honor of the district by winning gold medals. Under Khelo India, Abhishek Shukla of Kanpur was given the responsibility to promote powerlifting in Jhansi district. Abhishek is an international powerlifting and national level wrestling player and also works as a referee for powerlifting in Uttar Pradesh. Also works, he has also been given the responsibility of Director of Indian Games Development Council.
Mehjabeen Khan is working in Axis Bank. Many of her family members are working in the army, that is why she has been interested in sports since childhood and she is also a state champion in athletics. Jabir Khan says that he has been interested in sports since the beginning and he gets full support from his family members. While Hina Khan is a national player of Judo, her family members are also working in the army. These four players, who won gold medals in powerlifting, will participate in the national level powerlifting competition in Surat, Gujarat in the coming month of February. These four players reached the Sangharsh Seva Samiti office where the founder of the committee, Dr. Sandeep Saraogi presented shawls and bouquets and distributed citations to the players.
