Ole Miss football’s magical season has ended on a high note, with the Rebels defeating Penn State 38-25 in the Peach Bowl on Saturday to clinch their first 11-win season in school history.
No. 11 Ole Miss’ (11-2, 6-2 SEC) offense was nearly unstoppable against the No. 10 Nittany Lions (10-3, 7-2 Big Ten), gaining 540 total yards despite largely putting on the breaks in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Jaxson Dart completed 25 of 40 passes for 379 yards and three touchdowns on the afternoon while also rushing for another score.
The Rebels’ weapons also had huge games, with first-year Memphis transfer tight end Caden Prieskorn catching a season-high and game-high 10 passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns. Leading receiver Tre Harris III also finished with 134 receiving yards while running back Quinshon Judkins ran for 106 yards on 34 carries while also catching a touchdown pass.

Ole Miss held a lead as large as 38-17 late in the fourth quarter, but the Nittany Lions scored their own late touchdown with a 2-point conversion to make the score a bit closer. The win is coach Lane Kiffin’s first in a New Year’s Six bowl since joining Ole Miss, and now the Rebels look to ride the momentum into next season with an already-stellar transfer portal class.

2:52 p.m.: Ole Miss stops Penn State on fourth-and-10 with less than 30 seconds remaining. The Rebels are going to be the Peach Bowl champions.
2:46 p.m.: Ole Miss goes three-and-out but burns some time off the clock. Penn State takes over with under two minutes left.
Touchdown, Penn State: Ole Miss 38, Nittany Lions 25
2:39 p.m.: Touchdown, Penn State. Allar throws a 14-yard touchdown to Harrison Wallace with just over four minutes left. Penn State then gets a two-point conversion.
2:32 p.m.: A full-on singing of “Sweet Caroline” has broken out by Ole Miss fans at the Peach Bowl.
2:29 p.m.: Ole Miss continues to dominant. This time, the Rebels force an Allar fumble and recover.
2:24 p.m.: Penn State takes over and will likely need a miracle to come back in this one with just over five minutes left.

2:19 p.m.: Touchdown, Dart. He keeps the option himself and rushes for a 2-yard touchdown. That’s likely going to do it for the Rebels.
2:17 p.m.: Tre. Harris. Penn State has no answer for the Ole Miss passing attack, as Dart throws to Harris for a 37-yard gain. Harris is up to seven receptions for 134 yards on the afternoon.
2:15 p.m.: What a play from Dart, who avoids the sack and scrambles for 8 yards to convert on second-and-6.
2:12 p.m.: That was probably Penn State’s best drive of the game so far, and Ole Miss allowing no points felt like a huge momentum shift.
2:07 p.m.: Perfect sequence for Ole Miss, who gets a 12-yard tackle for loss before forcing Penn State to attempt a field goal, which gets blocked by Zxavian Harris. Rebels regain possession at their own 35-yard line.
2:01 p.m.: Penn State having some success through the air this drive, with Allar passing for 71 yards. Nittany Lions are on the Rebels’ 27-yard line after a 22-yard reception by Tyler Warren and 16-yard catch by Nicholas Singleton.
Third quarter: Ole Miss 31, Penn State 17
1:55 p.m.: Rebels headed to the fourth quarter with a 31-17 lead and possession inside Penn State territory.
1:50 p.m.: The Rebels are now 3 of 3 on fourth-down attempts this afternoon after 8-yard rush by JJ Pegues on fourth-and-1. Dart called the snap, but the ball was snapped on the ground in front of Pegues, who picked it up and ran up the middle. Not sure if the ball being snapped on the ground was intentional or not, but it worked.
1:46 p.m: Ole Miss forces a three-and-out and already has the ball back. The Rebels have a chance to extend their lead even more here.
1:41 p.m.: Dart up to 320 passing yards and three touchdowns.
Touchdown, Ole Miss: Rebels 31, Penn State 17
1:39 p.m.: Facing third-and-9 on Penn State’s 14-yard line, Dart throws to Judkins up the middle for a 14-yard touchdown. The Judkins drive, indeed. Ole Miss then gets the two-point conversion on a Dart rollout pass to Prieskorn.
1:37 p.m.: This has been the Judkins drive, who is up to 108 rushing yards on the afternoon after 49 rushing yards (so far) this drive.
1:31 p.m.: A pair of really nice runs by Judkins, who gains 15 and 10 yards on back-to-back violent runs.
1:27 p.m.: The tight end screen has been open for Penn State today, but it doesn’t quite work this time as it gains three yards on third-and-4. Nittany Lions punt 48 yards to Ole Miss’ 18-yard line.
Field goal, Ole Miss: Rebels 23, Penn State 17
1:23 p.m.: Rebels get stopped in Penn State territory and attempts a 52-yard field goal, which Caden Davis nails.
1:20 p.m.: Ole Miss’ offense has looked really good today. Dart has completions of 14 and 15 yards to Prieskorn, and another for 16 yards to Harris so far this drive. One of Prieskorn’s catches was one-handed for a first down yet again. What a day for the tight end.
1:17 p.m.: Ole Miss forces a three-and-out to start the second half. Good start for the Rebels.
1:15 p.m.: Second half is underway, and Penn State starts with the ball.

12:44 p.m.: Ole Miss forces a three-and-out and Kiffin calls an instant timeout. Looks like the Rebels might try to get a late score before halftime with 45 seconds left.
12:43 p.m.: Ole Miss punts and Penn state takes over at its own 16 with just over a minute left in the half.
12:41 p.m.: Harris’ catch was ruled incomplete after review. Harris now has five receptions for 82 yards.
12:40 p.m.: Ole Miss leading receiver Tre Harris is up to six catches for 105 yards after a 23-yard gain, but he’s slow to get up on the play before entering the injury tent. Would be a huge loss for the Rebels.

12:35 p.m.: This game is fun. Penn State responds to Ole Miss’ touchdown with a 48-yard touchdown pass from backup quarterback Beau Pribula to Nicholas Singleton. Pribula was in for Allar on the play in a special package.
12:34 p.m.: Tight ends are cooking in the first half of the Peach Bowl. All three touchdowns in the game have been scored by tight ends, and Penn State just threw a screen to tight end Theo Johnson for a 14-yard gain.
12:31 p.m.: Dart’s stats so far: 13 of 21 passing for 218 yards and two touchdowns. Not bad, not bad at all.

12:31 p.m.: Who scores for Ole Miss? None other than Prieskorn, who hauls in a 37-yard touchdown reception for his second of the day. Prieskorn up to six catches for 97 yards and two scores.
12:26 p.m.: Ole Miss converts on the 7-yard rush by Quinshon Judkins. Rebels now at Penn State’s 37.
12:25 p.m.: False start puts Ole Miss at third-and-12. Dart hits Prieskorn again for a 9-yard gain and it looks like the Rebels will attempt a fourth-and-3 conversion.
12:23 p.m.: Dart completes a pass deep for Dayton Wade to enter the redzone, but the play is nullified by a Rebels holding penalty.
12:21 p.m.: Have a day, Prieskorn. He catches a 20-yard pass one-handed from Dart to start Ole Miss’ drive.
12:17 p.m.: Allar throws a duck intended for a deep receiver and Ole Miss’ Daijahn Anthony easily intercepts the pass. as the intended receiver wasn’t even close to where the ball was thrown. The interception was only Allar’s second all season. Rebels take over at their own 15-yard line.

12:10 p.m.: Rebels go with a couple runs to make a manageable third-and-4 but get called for a false start to move back to third-and-9, which Dart can’t pick up on the attempted throw. Ole Miss settles for a 45-yard field goal by Caden Davis.
12:08 p.m.: Dart starts the drive with three straight completions, two of which go to Tre Harris for 10 and 24 yards. respectively. Rebels working in some tempo and are moving fast.
Touchdown, Penn State: Ole Miss 10, Nittany Lions 10
12:01 p.m.: Ole Miss stops Penn State on the goal line, but the Nittany Lions go for it on fourth down and it pays off. Allar throws to Theo Johnson for a two-yard touchdown to tie it up at the Peach Bowl.
First quarter: Ole Miss 10, Penn State 3
11:56 a.m.: Wow. Allar rolls to his right and his pass is tipped but falls into the hands of tight end Tyler Warren, who runs for a 76-yard gain. Unfortunate sequence for Ole Miss, as Penn State is now within the Rebels’ 5-yard line as the first quarter ends.
11:53 a.m.: Dart is fighting through some sort of lower leg injury. He was just shown on the ESPN broadcast getting his leg wrapped by a trainer.
Touchdown, Ole Miss: Rebels 10, Penn State 3
11:51 a.m.: Touchdown Rebels. Ole Miss gets into the red zone on Dart’s 25-yard pass to Tre Harris before Dart finds Prieskorn for a 6-yard touchdown pass. Safe to say that fourth-down conversion got the Rebels rolling.
11:50 a.m.: Let’s get tricky! Ole Miss runs the Philly Special on fourth-and-2 for a 16-yard pass to Dart from Jordan Watkins.
11:48 a.m.: Dart moves the chains on third-and-10 on a 21-yard pass to Caden Prieskorn. Nice throw there.
11:46 a.m.: Dart was hit as he threw and officials initially ruled the play a fumble, but thankfully for Ole Miss the play was overturned and called an incompletion. Rebels facing third-and-10 now after the hit by Penn State star defender Abdul Carter.
11:41 a.m.: Ole Miss stuffs Penn State after a first down and forces a punt. Rebels take over at their own 23.
11:35 a.m.: Woah. Monty Montgomery with a huge hit on the ensuing kickoff starts Penn State at its own 11-yard line. Montgomery’s helmet flew off in the process.
Field goal, Ole Miss: Rebels 3, Penn State 3
11:32 a.m.: Ole Miss then attempts a third-and-11, but Dart is forced to throw away facing instant pressure. On that play, Kiffin thought the officials missed another defensive offside penalty.
11:30 a.m.: Ole Miss enters the red zone and Dart hits Caden Prieskorn for a would-be touchdown, but officials call the play dead after a defensive offside penalty. Lane Kiffin was shown very upset with the call on the sidelines.
11:26 a.m.: Dart completes a deep pass to Dayton Wade for 34 yards. That’ll get things going.

11:23 a.m.: Drew Allar had Harrison Wallace III open on third-and-4, but the pass was dropped. Alex Felkins then nails a 26-yard field goal to give Penn State an early lead.
11:21 a.m.: Ole Miss having a hard time stopping the Nittany Lions’ rushing attack early. Kaytron Allen’s 24-yard rush puts Penn State inside the Rebels’ 20-yard line.
