The Director General of Police of Jammu and Kashmir said that 48 anti-terror operations were conducted in Jammu and Kashmir this year. In which 76 terrorists were killed. The big thing is that out of 76 terrorists who were killed, 55 were from other countries. 291 overground workers working for terrorists were arrested, while 89 terror modules were busted.
Apart from this, he said that there has been a major reduction in terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir this year. In the year 2022, 125 terrorist incidents took place, while this year only 46 incidents took place. Thus in 2023 there has been a reduction of about 63 percent in terrorist incidents. The DGP said that we are passing through a historic period. The number of youth joining terrorist organizations has decreased. Terrorist recruitment is also reduced by about 80 percent in 2023. According to an estimate, 130 locals were involved in terrorist activities in 2022. While in 2023, only 22 people were involved in terrorist incidents. Killings of civilians by terrorists have also decreased, from 31 in 2022 to 14 in 2023.
The official said that the common man wants peace and order. Throughout the year 2023, the police have remained on alert mode. But no civilian died in maintaining law and order. Also, in 2023, 4 policemen including a DSP of Jammu and Kashmir Police were martyred while fighting against terrorists, while in 2022, 14 policemen were martyred. If we talk about the killing of common people, it has decreased compared to 2022. In 2022, terrorists killed 31 civilians. In 2023, 14 people became victims of terrorists.
Apart from this, a total of 99 properties of separatists and terrorists worth Rs 170 crore have been confiscated in 2023. And bank accounts have been frozen. Two terrorist outfits Shabbir Shah's JK Democratic Freedom Party and Masrat Alam's JK Muslim League were banned under the UAPA this year. Also, in the year 2023, drug money worth Rs 10.29 crore was also seized. Also, 8,000 fake Facebook accounts run across the border have been shut down. Also 371 gallantry awards have been given to the police in 2023.
