LONGi Green Energy Technology, a manufacturer of solar wafers, cells and modules, has signed a partnership agreement with a professional off-grid solar home system manufacturer to provide solar products to off-grid communities in Africa and alleviate energy poverty.
By launching the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) project Light Up Africa, the partners will provide tailor-made products, including solar cells and modules, providing affordable solar power solutions and creating a sense of economic empowerment and poverty alleviation.
LONG was also recently recognised as the first solar manufacturer to join the World Economic Forum’s Global Lighthouse Network, the go-to place for industrial organisations to learn and collaborate in advanced technology adoption.
The World Economic Forum also recognised the leading solar manufacturer for its innovative adaptation of intelligent technologies to promote intelligent solar product manufacturing.

Helping communities in need to access green energy
According to the World Bank, 568 million people in sub-Saharan Africa alone still lacked access to electricity in 2023, with off-grid energy use common in rural areas.
Chief Executive Officer of co-partner Shenzhen Power Solution, Li Xia, expressed dedication to improving the quality of life of the bottom-of-the-pyramid (BOP) population with green energy.

Dennis She, Vice President of LONGsaid this initiative will offer “the most-needed communities with affordable green solar solutions to empower the BOP communities in Africa to improve income and have better access to education.”
