Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2 stays steady on Tuesday ; mints Rs 3 crore

Post the success of Kalki 2898 AD, Kamal Haasan was expecting to recreate the same magic with his film Indian, 2 but the film is just about managing to stay afloat. Indian 2 directed by Shankar is a sequel to their 1996 blockbuster film Hindustani, which sees Kamal Haasan stepping again into the shoes of freedom fighter Senapathy. The film carried a lot of expectations before the trailer came out, but post that everything has been going down hill for the film.Post the release, negative reviews and audience reaction even forced the makers to edit the film by 20 minutes on the second day. In its first four days, the film just about managed to earn Rs 62.15 crore, with Monday collections standing at Rs 3 crore- an 80 % drop from Monday. The film on Tuesday, remained steady and added another Rs 3 crore to its collection with the Tamil version contributing Rs 2 crore, thus taking the overall box office number to Rs 65.15 crore. Indian 2 was supposed to be just a sequel, but director Shankar decided to spilt it into two films, so now Indian is a trilogy. The film features Siddharth , Rakul Preet Singh , Kajal Agarwal and SJ Suryah.
