The Duke Blue Devils football team earned a 26-20 win in double overtime at Northwestern in a game that started Friday night and ended early Saturday morning.
With a win in its road debut under first-year coach Manny Diaz, Duke is off to a 2-0 start in three consecutive seasons for just the second time since 1956.
Blue Devil quarterback Maalik Murphy had touchdown passes to Jordan Moore and Eli Pancol in the extra periods to help Duke snag its first overtime win since 2015.
Defensive, Duke was dominant with 16 tackles for loss, including eight sacks. The Blue Devils didn’t allow points in Week 1 until the final minute of the game. That trend continued in Week 2, with Duke’s defense logging 11 tackles for loss at Northwestern. Senior linebacker Alex Howard had 14 tackles to lead Duke’s defense against the Wildcats.
