Religious opinion says that during the lunar eclipse (Chandra Grahan 2024), the effect of Rahu on the earth increases. For this, do not do auspicious work during the eclipse. Along with this, avoid eating too. At the same time, to reduce the effect of Rahu, chant the mantra of Lord Vishnu’s name. After the lunar eclipse ends, take a bath, meditate and do worship.

What is Sutak?
The time before the eclipse is called Sutak. However, there is a difference in the Sutak time during solar and lunar eclipse. During a solar eclipse, Sutak starts 12 hours before. In simple words, Sutak starts 12 hours before the solar eclipse. On the other hand, Sutak starts 9 hours before the lunar eclipse. Sutak is valid if the eclipse is visible. If the eclipse is not visible, then Sutak does not apply.
When will the lunar eclipse occur?
According to astrologers, the second lunar eclipse of the year is going to take place on Bhadrapada Purnima. The lunar eclipse will start on September 18 at 06:12 am and will end at 10:17 am. This lunar eclipse will not be visible in India. This means that the lunar eclipse will take place during the day. Sutak will also not be valid for this. Pitru Paksha is starting on this day. After the end of the lunar eclipse, a person can perform tarpan for the ancestors after bathing and meditating.
