Pooja Cricket is now in its 75th year as the limited overs tournament that has been set up since before the world could even dream of it. The activities to celebrate the 75th anniversary next year will begin today in Tripunithura. The logo release and the final of the 74th Pooja Cricket will be held today.
Tripunithura was the first in the world to introduce controlled overcricket. Even as the tournament, which started in 1951, is in its 74th year, the glory remains undiminished.
The pioneers of Pooja cricket are the Princess Club, which was started in Otoliparam by the young generation of the Kochi royal family. In the final of the first tournament, the match was between Tripunithura Cricket Club and Kottayam Cricket Club. Today’s final is between Chennai GST and Tamil Nadu Income Tax Department.
