Jammu Kashmir: The state cabinet has asked the Center to grant full statehood to Jammu Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha approved this resolution. CM Omar Abdullah’s cabinet has asked the Center to restore the state status from the union territory. The latest resolution is seen as an important step towards restoring statehood recognition to Jammu and Kashmir.
The Cabinet has taken this decision to bring this issue to the attention of the Prime Minister as well as the Centre. A government official revealed that CM Omar Abdullah will soon come to Delhi to meet the Prime Minister and Union Ministers regarding the restoration of statehood.

The meeting of the newly elected Legislative Assembly will be held on November 04 in Srinagar. The session will be opened by the Lt. Governor. The Cabinet has recommended the appointment of Mubarik Gul as Protem Speaker to administer oath to the elected MLAs on October 21. The LG issued an order appointing Gul as the Speaker pro tem until the election of the Speaker.
Jammu and Kashmir recently held elections for the first time in a decade, after the abrogation of Article 370. The National Conference-Congress alliance won 48 of the total 90 assembly seats in this election. BJP became the second largest party with 29 seats. Congress won only 6 seats.
