Despite being a Malayalam actor, actor Dulquer Salmaan also mesmerized Tollywood audiences with Telugu films like Mahanati and Seetharam. Now he has come to the audience with another straight movie ‘Lucky Bhaskar’ in Telugu on the same route.
With the direction of Venky Atluri, who proved himself to be a director with good content not only with Telugu heroes but also with heroes from other industries with the movie ‘Saar’, this movie became the main attraction of the Diwali race. How is the movie so far?

what is the story
Bhaskar was a middle class man. What tricks did he do to make ends meet, to keep the family happy? Can you finally escape from them? Or? That is the story.

Who acted how?
Dulquer Salmaan plays a middle-class bank employee in a very plain-looking role.
As a responsible husband, father, sibling and son, he impressed the audience to connect well in this role.
Meenakshi Chaudhary played the role of Bhaskar’s wife Sumathi. Although he has done well with his screen presence, it would have been better if this role had been shaped to be more prominent.
Rajkumar Kasireddy acted energetically in the role of Bhaskar’s friend Samba. Ranky, Sai Kumar, Hyper Adi, Sachin Khedekar, Surya Srinivas acted in key roles.

How was the movie?
Many movies have already come out on financial crimes. This is the same movie.
This periodical story set in 1989 is not new. Also, there are not many twists and turns in the thriller. Venky Atluri has projected a middle class man in this movie which is a period thriller in terms of story genre to connect with the audience even more than that. It must be said that this emotion is well worked out.
This is a movie that shows how a middle class man behaves in different situations. Middle class people have a desire to rise in the society. Financial conditions are often not conducive to that.
Also, children who grow up in this environment are exposed to financial difficulties in their family. The head of the family wants to do something and bring his family to a better financial position. Bhaskar is the one who handles such responsibilities.
How can such a middle class man succumb to the temptations if he sees crooked ways to earn money? How can one become one when he needs money, another when earning becomes an addiction? That is shown in this.
And the main story is financial crimes. When one bank gives a loan to another bank, how do some big boys use those two banks to create fake security and influence the stock markets and investments? How do banks get caught in this trap? Also how is shares rigging done? There are many such serious aspects in this movie.
All this is a story that takes place in 1989 in the backdrop of Mumbai. But, this main story has turned into a side track and as the movie has progressed as an emotional family drama and given ‘feel good vibes’, it has to be said that the main story has been washed away.
The movie would have been even stronger if the Mumbai backdrop was still strong. As many movies have already come out in Hollywood and India with this background, one gets the feeling of seeing the old story anew.
Even in the second half, the film would have been stronger in terms of story if more attention had been paid to the main story from the emotional family track. Also, the portrayal of investigative agencies like the CBI is far from reality, very unnatural.
Didn’t ‘Luck’ come along?
True to the film’s title, Bhaskar’s character in this film is conflict-free at times showing that he is fortunate enough to get out of difficult situations without any conflict.
It seems that ‘Luck’ as a heroic element is present in some scenes as there is no scope in the screenplay to fully showcase the intelligent hero’s character. This is not a plus for the movie.

How about the other stuff?
Music and songs are plus points for this movie. The title song of ‘Lucky Bhaskar’, songs by Mrs. Garu are good. Music, background score and cinematography are good.
Plus Points:
1) Emotional drama
2) Songs – Music
3) Dulquer Salmaan acting
Minus Points:
1) Lack of novelty of the story
2) Mumbai background is not portrayed strongly
3) Lack of conflict intensity
Even though the story is not new, ‘Lucky Bhaskar’ is a movie that has impressed to some extent with Dulquer Salmaan’s performance and Venky Atluri’s emotional drama.
