Actor Gavin’s movie ‘Bloody Becker’ has been released as a Diwali release.
Gavin, who became famous a few years ago with the show ‘Bigg Boss’, plays the lead role of a ‘beggar’ in this ‘dark comedy’ film.
His face seen in the posters and advertisements created anticipation to see Gavin in a different baddie in the film.
Nelson Dilip Kumar, who has directed ‘dark comedy’ films like ‘Kolamavu Kokila’ and ‘Doctor’, has produced this film. Sivapalan Muthukumar, who worked as his assistant for more than 10 years, has made his directorial debut with this film.
Redin Kingsley, who acted in Kolamavu Kokila and Doctor, is also seen in the lead role in this film.
What is the story of ‘Bloody Becker’?
As the title of the film suggests, a beggar is the main character of this story.
Gavin, who plays a beggar, sometimes finds himself inside a big bungalow. The film is a mixture of thriller and comedy as there is a property dispute between the residents of the bungalow, what Gavin does in the middle of it, what they make him do, and talking to the spirit of the deceased.

A ‘dark comedy’?
A screen review by ‘The Times of India’ says that ‘Michael Madana Kamarajan’ needs multiple characters to create laughter in confusion, and director Sivabalan has tried to do the job well.
“Dark comedy, Gavin-Kingsley acting and finely crafted screenplay help him. Sujith Sarang’s yellow tinted scenes add to the humor of the film. At times the scenes are presented in a video game format to make it easier for people to understand,” reads the review.
Gavin, how is Kingsley acting?
Gavin and Redin Kingsley’s acting is commendable, various media outlets have also reported.
“Gavin makes a mark with a unique look and body language mixed with innocence. It is a strength to fill the void of the comedy field around him with acting,” notes ‘Hindu Tamil Vektik’ in its screen review.
Also, “Reddin Kingsley has got a character that has some opportunities to score beyond comedy. Sunil Sugata’s villainy is noteworthy,” says the ‘Hindu Tamil Vektik’ review.
The same review stated that “Director Sivabalan has tried to give a ‘dark comedy’ based on the indifference to the lives of street-dwellers and the tendency to consider them unfit to live.”

Is comedy boring?
‘The Hindustan Times’ in its review says, ‘Gavin is amazing as Bloody Becker’.
Gavin fits the look of the character beyond recognition, says the review. “Gavin is a mix of affection, arrogance, desire and curiosity,” the review notes.
“The scenes where Rhettin Kingsley, who is murdered at the scene, unaware that he is his own son, then talks to Gavin, who arrives at his place, and alerts him, are lively.” It has been said.
Also, “Even though there are a lot of characters who are largely unfamiliar, because everyone comes with Gavin, they are also recognisable. They rely entirely on comedy to move the story along. It helps in some places. In many places, that alone is tiresome,” notes the review.

‘Gavin’s Acting Is Special’ – What Are Fans Saying?
Fans who saw the film in Chennai praised Gavin’s performance.
Actor Gavin has given his 100% to this film, says a fan who has seen the film. “The film has been directed by Nelasan’s assistant director, so the ‘dark comedy’ is well-placed in the film. Actor Kingsley has done well,” he said.
Another reviewer says that actor Gavin has somehow exceeded our expectations in the first half of the film and in the second half. “Though actor Kingsley is a supporting actor, he comes across as the main character throughout the film. Gavin made everyone who came to watch the film feel like a ‘beaker’. Actor Gavin has given a good treat for Diwali,” says this fan.
‘Drag like candy’
However, some fans say that the film is not that good.
“There is no comedy in the film. Gavin’s previous film ‘Star’ was excellent. This film does not live up to expectations. There is no story in the film,” says a fan.
Another fan says, ‘Couldn’t sit and watch the movie completely’.
“I am still wondering what the director is trying to convey in this film. It was as sticky as candy corn,” he says.
Some offered mixed reviews.
“There is ‘scope’ for Gavin, Kingsley to act in the film. Just like how the film Star depended on Kavin’s acting skills, so was this film. As the film was shot around the same environment, there was a bit of a dip. If the characters were better fleshed out, the film would have been more relatable,” says another fan.
