Meenakshi Seshadri fondly reminisced about her time on the set of Shahenshah with Amitabh Bachchansharing a delightful comment he made regarding her youthful energy.
Meenakshi recently reflected on her collaboration with Amitabh Bachchan in Shahenshah, noting that the film initially had Dimple Kapadia cast as the female lead. The filmmakers later decided to try out Seshadri, who was then new to the industry. She recalled how the original tracks for the songs were adjusted to suit her dancing style, especially for the popular number featuring her solo performance. This adaptation highlighted her talent and added to the film’s charm during her engaging chat with Friday Talkies.
On the first day of shooting in Ooty, Seshadri felt completely at ease, filled with youthful confidence and unaware of the presence of Amitabh Bachchan. While filming a scene in shorts, she was so relaxed that Bachchan remarked on how newcomers often seem lost in their own world. His words resonate with her even today as she reflects on her early days and the passage of time.
While Shahenshah was their first collaboration, Amitabh Bachchan and Meenakshi Seshadri also worked together in films like Gangaa Jamunaa Saraswati (1988), Toofan (1989), and Akayla (1991). Meenakshi’s final film was the action thriller Ghatak: Lethal (1996), where she starred alongside Sunny Deol. After her marriage, she relocated to the United States.
