‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ has been causing a stir in theaters since its release on November 1. The film, which has made over Rs 100 crore at the box office, clashed against Rohit Shetty’s ‘Singham Again’. Director Anees Bazmee recently talked about how he teamed together Vidya Balan and Madhuri said for this horror comedy.
During a conversation with Hindi Rush, Anees Bazmee discussed Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit’s casting. He added that because Balan appeared in the franchise’s debut film, he had always wanted to work with her. He went on to say that there would be a lot of discussion about her rejoining the franchise after over ten years. The director shared, “When we wrote the film, I kept wondering how it would be wonderful if Vidya (Balan) did this film. She, attaching herself to the film, also created a lot of buzz that she is doing this film 17 years after doing the original film (Priyadarshan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2007) since she was coming back.”
Speaking of Madhuri, he said he had once met her at a party. He remembered that Dixit had praised his movies. Bazmee claimed that he did not want to pass up the chance to approach her with ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ since he thought it was the ideal moment. He further added, “I was like ‘inhone apni taareef kar di hai, chalo inko pakadte hai, yeh mauka haath se nahi jaane denge.’ I met her and narrated the story. She felt everything was right — the producers, the star cast, the director, so she said, ‘Chalo karte hai (let’s do it).’”
Apart from Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ also featured Kartik AaryanTriptii Dimri, and Rajpal Yadav in pivotal roles.
